The convertible top has been getting worse and worse. At first it needed some help going up, now it will not go down without help. So I disconnected the cylinders thinking there was air in system. And I found this…

2018 Dublin Auto Show
The 2018 Dublin Auto Show was Saturday and just for giggles I entered the Jeepster. It was about the only “beater” car there. But it was fun to see all the cars. About 8 Jeeps showed up including a new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and a really cool right-hand-drive Wranger with a 5.7L Hemi in it.
Jeepster owner’s manual
I found an owner’s manual for the Jeepster on e-Bay this week and when it arrived I scanned it. Hopefully the Kaiser Jeep copyright lawyers are all dead. The manual is a little ratty and it is for a 1968 Jeepster rather than my 1967. But it is the only one I have found so far. Spring maintenance 2018
Time for some routine maintenance on the Jeep. It is raining so we will be working in the garage today.
Real snow
We had an actual snowstorm Friday night (Jan 12, 2018). It rained most of the day then there was some ice and finally 4″-6″ inches of snow. The earlier rain and the plummeting temperatures meant the roads were an icy, slick mess. Jeepster weather!
Snow!
Last night we got a couple inches of snow and it kept snowing most of the morning. Which means that for the first time I can legitimately use four wheel drive. It was only 18 degrees and the tires were throwing slush up through the floor and on the windshield but the car is actually brilliant in the snow. I drove it downtown then took both my kids out to a nice vacant parking lot to let them play with it. All the 4×4 stuff works perfectly but the transmission was a beast until it warmed up a bit. I really have to get to work on the floorboards.
Spare tire
I finally tracked down a wheel to use for the spare tire that matched my other wheels. I picked it up from the powdercoater last week and today I decided to take it to the tire shop and get the spare tire mounted. No problems there. But when I went to put the tire back on the mount this happened:
Courtesy lights
There are two electrical issues still on the Jeepster. One is the windshield washer pump. The other is the interior courtesy lights. The wiring for these is a mess so I just disconnected them. Tonight I had some time and was looking for a little project so I decided to get these fixed.
Window and door lubrication
I had an hour to kill so I decided to clean and lubricate the other three windows since it made such a difference to the passenger window. I started in the passenger side rear. It took me a while to figure out why this was weird. Then I realized there is no rust here!
New convertible top latch
The passenger side convertible top latch broke on me. I thought I might be able to somehow fix the old one but the screws did not want to turn.
