Last week driving the Jeepster I realized I could not push the gas pedal to the floor.  It would go if I really pushed it but that felt like something could break.  Today I took a look and found that the accelerator pump is stuck.

The pump arm will move a little (maybe 1/16″) then it is like it hits a wall.  Normally I would pull the top off the carb and see what is going on but that would void my warranty from the company that rebuilt it.  So I will give them a call tomorrow and see what the next step is.

In the meantime this reminded me that have never serviced the air cleaner.  The car has an oil bath air cleaner.  My understanding is that these work OK so I will probably leave it alone.  This oil is looking a little dirty.

Yuck.

I cleaned everything up with solvent and set it out in the sun to dry.

I used some fresh 30W non-detergent oil to fill up the bath and put things back together.
