Most years I do annual maintenance every spring in March or April when we get a nice day. But most years my father does not die. He passed away in April and since then I have been helping my mother and dealing with a pandemic so the cars got pushed on the back burner. But it is the last day of spring so technically it is still spring maintenance. This year I decided to go through the entire Tune Up chapter of the service manual (Section C if you are following along in your copy of the service manual). I will put the subsection numbers in as I go
Category: Maintenance
Weird spark plug thing
Super nice weather so I pulled the spark plugs today.
Clutch adjustment
So the transmission has been getting harder and harder to shift. I have found some metal in the oil so I assumed the transmission was slowly shredding itself. That might still be true but it occurred to me that I have never adjusted the clutch so why not start there?
Oil change and removed the splash apron
It was so warm tonight I decided to get some work done on the car. First thing was an oil change
Started spring maintenance
It has been a long time since I did anything on the Jeepster. I have busy and it has been cold. Today was a really warm day but I only had a couple hours. But I got started anyway.
Spring maintenance 2018
Time for some routine maintenance on the Jeep. It is raining so we will be working in the garage today.
Window and door lubrication
I had an hour to kill so I decided to clean and lubricate the other three windows since it made such a difference to the passenger window. I started in the passenger side rear. It took me a while to figure out why this was weird. Then I realized there is no rust here!
Carb problems and air filter
Last week driving the Jeepster I realized I could not push the gas pedal to the floor. It would go if I really pushed it but that felt like something could break. Today I took a look and found that the accelerator pump is stuck.
